Precollege Summer Programs at Hampshire College

Arrive at Hampshire motivated to learn, and leave ready to change the world. Come join us this July!

Inside the Cell: Immersion into the Biology Laboratory
Students will immerse themselves in the biology laboratory by learning a variety of techniques and reviewing primary scientific research. This program is designed for students who are interested in pursuing science at the college level and would like to conduct both laboratory work and research. To conclude this engaging program, students will present their work at a research symposium.

Meet the World of Metalworking

After resounding success last summer, this hands-on program will again introduce students to the world of metalworking, with an emphasis on hot forging, casting, and manipulation. Students learn from historical and contemporary examples of an ancient art and create their own work.

Young Feminist Collaborative
A collaboration between the Civil Liberties and Public Policy Program (CLPP), based at Hampshire College, and the Soapbox Feminist Camp, this program mixes historical and political contexts of activism with exposure to real-world careers in social justice and the nonprofit sector. This communal program is an immersion in feminist thinking and action designed for those who have an interest in movement building, gender justice, and creating community.

Citizens United
This program will help students understand the Citizens UnitedSupreme Court decision and how it changed the role of money in American politics. Participants will explore the limits and possibilities of defining money as speech. Citizens United will also encourage students to imagine money in politics differently through improvisation and role-play.
